Favorite Stories and vids of 2011

It's that time of year again where I post my favorite stories and vids of 2011. Not all the stories were posted in 2011 but it's the year I found them for the first time, so it counts in my book. :)

The stories below are listed in no particular order or fandom preference. This year it was again difficult to narrow down my absolute favorites.

Regann - An Earlier Heaven
INSTANT REC!!! I couldn't stop reading this story once I started. I loved Charles and Erik's conflict and how nothing was solved quickly. I also loved all the characters and their interactions.

I could not stop reading this story once I started. I loved seeing how the whole world changed based on Erik's actions.

This was a crazy story and a lot of fun to read.

Thor

skiesovergideon: Family Ties
INSTANT REC!!! I had a blast reading this story. I loved Loki's experiences on Earth and adjusting to his magic not quite being under his control. I also loved all the original characters and the ending was awesome. (Only downside is that the story is long and on the norsekink meme so reading it is a bit of a pain)

Peripeteia - Winter's Heart
I had a blast reading this story. I loved seeing Sif's and Loki's povs and how they grew to know each other.

I loved the mood in this story.

I loved the song, the editing, and parts of the vid were heartbreaking.

Sholio - The Right Way to Fall
INSTANT REC!!! I loved Neal's pov, the concept, and the plot was awesome and believable.

Star Trek Reboot

The Omitted Admission Stumbling into Love by blcwriter (Kirk/Spock) I liked the hurt/comfort aspect of the story and Spock's pov and character voices felt spot on.


Once Upon A Time by littlebirdtold (Kirk/Spock) I loved the premise, the character voices, and I could not stop reading once I started.


Your First Time Should Be Special by helenish (Kirk/Spock) I loved Kirk's pov and I laughed more than once. :)


Break by Yahtzee (Spock/Uhura) I had a blast reading this story. I loved Spock's and Uhura's pov and I loved the build up as they got to know each other and it felt real.


Merlin

Leashed by riventhorn (merlin/arthur) I loved the concept and how Merlin and Arthur fell in love.


Hikaru No Go

green hours, blue rope by go_hedgehog (shindou/touya) I loved Touya's pov and Shindou's character voices was spot on.


Inception

Presque Vu by rageprufrock (Pairing:Arthur/Eames) INSTANT REC!!! I adored the build up in this story and the way everything fell apart. This had awesome and believable backstory for the movie and the character voices felt right.


Vorkosigan

Everything That You Can Keep by dira (Pairing:Aral/Jole Pairing:Aral/Cordelia) I loved the character voices and I loved that Jole is finally a person!


Merlin Vid Rec

When I'm Small by wakingworld (vid:recs:merlin) I loved the song, the clip choices, and how much they kind of have in common.


Harry Potter Vid Rec

Harry Potter | Marchin On (vid:recs:harrypotter) Loved the song an clip choices.

Star Trek Reboot

Graduate Vulcan for Fun and Profit by lazulisong (Gen) INSTANT REC!!! I loved the imagery, the details, the alternating povs and how the story developed Jim's friendship with his Vulcan teacher. Also the OC was really awesome!


Bloom and Grow by thistlerose (Kirk/McCoy) I LOVED Joanna's pov and each of the ways she grows as a character. Wonderful storytelling.


Supernatural

Thursday's Child by strangeandcharm (Castiel/Dean) INSTANT REC!!! This story blew me it out of the ballpark. I loved the AU aspect of what actually could have happened in the AU future of "The End" I could not put this story down once I started. The writing was fast paced and the characters compelling. I loved the world building.


Merlin Vid Rec

The Crown of the Summer Court trailer by nerjav (vid:recs:merlin) This was very well made. I loved the song choice and I thought it did a great job selling the story. :)

Supernatural

Though the Brightest Fell by thevinegarworks (Castiel/Dean Castiel/Lucifer) INSTANT REC!!! I could not stop reading once I started. I loved the plot, character voices, the sex was incredibly hot.


such, such is death by mimblexwimble (Gen) I really liked the concept.


Signs and portents by aesc (Castiel/Dean) This was funny and romantic!


Smallville

Omiai by [personal profile] toomuchplor (Clark/Lex) INSTANT REC!!! This story kept me up late! I loved the marriage of convenience, the character voices, the subtle changes from the tv show, and I could not stop reading once I started!


Stargate Atlantis/SG-1

Displacement by smilebackwards (Gen) I loved the character voices and this was fun to read.


Merlin Vid Rec

Blinding by di_br (vid:recs:merlin) I loved that this video is about Gwen and Morgana.
