Amalthia's recs and fan works

Did anyone else ever have the problem where when you used format=light for LJ stories and saved them the coding got all messed up and it gave you funky characters?

I did a format=light and saved in Dreamwidth and when I opened the saved story in Word it actually looked all right.

What I'm wondering is this a fluke? Or was there something actually messing up format=light when people saved the file and Dreamwidth fixed it?

I'm debating on using style=mine or format=light...So more information is always good.

Recs should be posted later tonight! (and no I'm not holding recs hostage unless someone responds to my question!) Though it's a tempting thought...
